The Dorset Square Hotel occupies two Regency townhouses with white stucco and brownstone façades, overlooking the tree-filed garden square from which the property takes its name. The lobby and other public spaces feature a comfy mixture of antiques, cricket memorabilia and chintz that makes you feel as if you're in an elegant private home. There is a comfortable reading room adjacent to the main reception area. Each of the 38 guestrooms is individually designed, with its own intimate feel and decor. The management prides itself on the detail of the rooms, which, with their oil paintings and classic fabrics, perfectly complement the fine Regency styling of the historic building. All are clean and well maintained, as are the en suite bathrooms. Situated on the lower ground floor and adorned with mountains of terracotta pots and seed boxes, the hotel’s Potting Shed Restaurant looks just how you would imagine. It serves modern English cuisine with a selection of Southern European fare. There’s also the Potting Shed Bar, which is open from Monday to Friday for residents and non-residents.
